How to Setup Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Connector on Your Windows XP Personal Computer

This document provides step by step instruction for setting up Nintendo DS USB Wireless/WiFi Connector on your Windows XP Personal Computer.

It is assumed that you have already examined and resolved potential conflicts that may prevent you from using your Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Connector with any Wireless LAN Routers, Internet Gateways, VPNs and Software Firewall Applications that may be installed on your computer network.

If your computer is not already connected to the Internet, please do so before trying to install your Nintendo USB connector. Failing to do so may result in an error screen that may read something like: You are not connected to the internet. You will get this error if the setup program utility fails to detect an active Internet connection. Verify that your are indeed connected to the Internet by surfing around or by sending yourself a test email.

Here is how to install Nintendo DS USB WiFi Connector on an XP PC:

  • Set Aside Your Nintendo USB Connector: Do not connect your USB connector to your computer's USB port at this time -wait for being prompted by your computer to do so.
  • Place CD ROM in CD Drive: Wait for the CD to spin-up and for the software auto-installer to launch. If software installer does not get launched automatically, browse to your CD drive and double click on the Setup.EXE file on your setup CD.
  • Select Language: Select your language, and click on "Ok".
  • Plug-in Nintendo USB Connector Only When Prompted: Patience, Young Jedi! Wait for the setup program prompt, and insert the USB stick into an open USP port only when the program directs you to do so.
  • Ignore Any Warnings About Old USB Ports: If you do not have a Hi-Speed USB port (USB v. 1.1 or newer), the setup program will probably display a warning to let you know that you have inserted a Hi-speed USB device into a non-hi-speed USB hub. Click "Ok" to complete software installation.
  • Register your Nintendo DS: You need to do so using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector Registration Tool. Turn on the Nintendo WFC-compatible game, and go to the Setup Utility menu.
  • Enter Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings: Click on Connect to your Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, then click on the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector Registration Tool icon in the lower-right corner of the Windows XP task bar. You be presented with a list of currently-connected Nintendo DS systems. When you tap "Ok" on the Nintendo DS, the Windows XP registration tool will display the Nintendo DS's nickname with a small, yellow "?" next to it.
  • Grant Your Nintendo DS Permission to Connect:Click on the Nintendo DS's nickname and select Grant permission to connect. Aa blue-colored standing man icon next to your DS's nickname means that you are all set.

Please note: Considering that USB connector allows no more than five(5) Nintendo DS' to connect at a time, you may have to remove at least one of them if you have already granted permission to connect to five Nintendo DS'.
